About Us

Financial

Q: How long do I have to commit for?
A: We do not use financial agreements or contracts. When you join our dojo you pay tuition on a month to month basis.

Q: Do you charge for testing or belts?
A: we do not charge any belt or testing fees.

Q: How many times a week can I attend classes?
A: We do not restrict the number of classes you can attend each week. We do ask that you arrange a regular class schedule but if you find it necessary to change that schedule it is no problem.

Q: What other charges can I expect during my enrollment?
A: We hold a Dojo Enbukai (similar to a recital) twice a year to give students an opportunity to show family and friends what they have been working on. There is a small (currently $15) charge per student to cover the costs associated with renting a gym, etc. This fee is waived for newer students under the rank of Yellow Belt. We also expect students who reach Yellow Belt to purchase sparring gear which is required for insurance purposes. That currently costs about $75.

Q: How will I know if I am going to like studying karate? How will I know if I will like your dojo?
A: The easiest way is to stop by and try a class. You are always welcome, and we will never pressure you to sign up. Our goal is to find students who are interested in the Martial Arts and work with them in a way that makes them strong, serious students!

Q: How long will it take to get a Black Belt?
A: That depends on you! We have curriculum and other requirements that need to be met in order to attain the rank of Shodan (First Degree Black Belt). With that in mind, younger students can expect to train for a number of years to reach the point where they are ready. Adults generally can accomplish this in a shorter amount of time.

Q: Why don’t you have a lot of trophies in your window like some other schools?
A: We are not a “tournament” school. The primary emphasis is on each student’s self-improvement over time.

Q: What if I have other questions or need more information?
A: Please feel free to contact us in person, by email or on the phone at your convenience. We will do our best to answer any questions you might have.
